One of my challenges the other day was to write a poem at any length but there could only be 14 syllables in each line.
Driving on down that open highway on a clear bright spring
Day, with the windows rolled down and the sun shining bright.
Country music blasting from them crappy speakers as I
Blast my favorite songs from the tops of my big old fat lungs.
Those terrible thoughts causing that terrible stress are
Fading away in the fresh clean spring time wind that’s smelling
So fresh and so clean. Driving away and clearing my head
Never felt so dang freaking good before. Wind passing through
With them windows down and my hair flowing with the breeze never
made me feel so encouraged and free and most of all, me.
