A Day in the Life of a Pack of Smokes

      by Samuel Proof

Longing and untouched

ego breaks, feeling longated. bad luck

Master Confidant

Legless follower, it breaks to much

I never felt life unimportant

always waiting for the perfect moment

passed over many waiting for "my woman"

never realized she was hiding in facades

So many promises I broke to myself

Burning cancer takes it's toll on my lungs

Stupid ego chip can't control me

Suicidal now I'm drowning, smoking

I take a deep breath of this clean air

Come up coughing, cleans not good for me

Burning ember be my guideline, recede

Turning fetal as I curl into myself

Life's getting shorter we're all talking long term

Selfless bantering we throw out take turns

Cannot hear me he has my own future

Don't they realize their choice of words burn

I'm at my filter time to snuff or taste bad

made my choice burn into my mouth

So little reason to stop these burning

I feel a girlfriend just might do it for me
