In the largest room lived the landlord
With his large gun collection and pictures of dead wives.
In the middle-sized rooms lived pimps and their whores.
In the smaller rooms, the brilliant, intellectuals, professors.
In the tinniest room, poets.
No one knew who lived next door.
No one had ever seen a neighbor
Until one night a loud noise
Brought all out into the hallways.
The landlord had taken a shotgun,
Blown off his head.
